Prime is the Key

Only 2 is a prime number.
If you see the pattern differently .....

2, 4, 8 and 16 form a G.P. in which 20 will not fit in. Of course, I am trying to think in different ways !!!!

Odd one out

I see it as 20 being the odd one out. The rest of the numbers are 2^n.

It can be either 2 or 20

2 will be the odd one out if we consider the numbers as multiples of 4.
But 20 will be the odd out out if we consider the numbers as powers of 2.
20 is the odd number that should be out of this pattern / group. You know why? It is very simple : all other numbers ( 2, 4, 8, 16 ) can be expressed as powers of 2 except 20 !

Whole Numbers

The number 2 is not a multiple of 4 unlike the rest.

Algebra

If given that a² + b² = 24, and 2ab=12, find the answer to (a - b)^2

They are multiples of 4

2 should be out as the rest are multiples of 4.

The Odd ONE Out

Its 2.

The other numbers are all multiples of 4.
